Flow physio Pilates classes are physiotherapist led Pilates classes run by a fully APPI certificated Pilates instructor. Suitable for any age and ability, these small classes will provide you with a gentle yet effective exercise class to start or progress your Pilates journey. So many of us will experience neck, back, hip or shoulder pain in our lives- with a lot of these problems being due to our modern lifestyle that often involves a lot of sitting or static based postures. Pilates is a positive exercise based approach to movement that applies the principles introduced by Joseph Pilates in 1920 into a modified method that works on the theory of having a strong and stable core.
All movements and exercises will be explained to you throughout the programme to ensure you fully understand the process and reasoning behind each exercise
By focusing on individual movements the movements are broken down into easy to mange steps and sequences to be completed with precision and repetition to learn correct techniques
Load and range is added to each movement to progress and therefore improve strength and stability. Movements are performed in a variety of positions to achieve this
Focus is given to feel the body move through articulation of the joints through both visual, verbal and tactile feedback
Movements are then integrated into normal and functional movement patterns. Pilates aims to enhance optimal movement patterns for many everyday tasks, improving the bodies efficiency of movement
Your Pilates class is a time for connecting with your breath and focusing on your movement, a time to focus on just yourself and nothing else for an hour- a workout for the mind and the body
